Removing the rattle from under an American car hood

Replacing environmentally unacceptable mercury with a loose ball bearing in an under-bonnet light switch was a simple modification; unfortunately, a major automotive supplier was faced with the problem of a rattle from the device.

David Cockayne simply introduced a slight conical taper to the inside diameter of the tube so that when the bonnet was closed the ball bearing locked itself into the taper, preventing it from moving.

The solution may have been simple - but even the skilled technical brains, and there was a good deal available to this well known manufacturer, had not thought of it. If you have a problem that your scratching your head over and your engineers cant solve, give David Cockayne a call, the first meeting is free of obligation and charge, what can you loose?
